A recent Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) article reports that more than 37,000 people died in motor vehicle collisions in 2017. Statistics from that year show that there was a 66% higher risk of fatality in collisions when one or more of the drivers involved was manipulating a cell phone. The IIHS and common sense strongly urge us all to put down our phones! If you must make a call, please do it hands-free. Better yet, wait until you have parked. Let’s all be safer drivers!
