The term ‘mind-body connection’ that we often hear is a very real concept. There are emotions associated with every organ and meridian in your body. Taking a 20-minute walk or stretching for a few minutes can have a profound effect on your state of mind, not only because endorphins are released but also because stagnant emotions are moved out of your muscles and organs. Proper movement of Qi is the key to improving both physical and emotional pain or stress. Acupuncture is a way to move stagnant Qi and emotions out of the body when exercise isn’t enough. As an acupuncturist it is my job to discover where energy is not flowing correctly and reestablish proper circulation/communication between the meridians therefore alleviating physical or emotional pain/discomfort.
