The temperomandibular joints (TMJ) are the joints where your mandible (jaw bone) meets your skull. One or both of the joints can be injured with any head/neck trauma. The most obvious and common source of injury is from direct trauma. However, direct trauma to the joint(s) is not necessary for injury to occur. Rapid movement of the jaw in relation to the head can cause injury. Even excessive chewing with one side of the mouth can alter the way the joint moves. The practitioners at Marcum Chiropractic can address many problems associated with TMJ problems. Call 503-235-7130 to learn more!
