In this computer-age we live in we are sitting more at work, home, travel and even during many recreational activities.  Sitting with poor posture is becoming an epidemic in our world today.  It leads to back pain, headaches, spinal deformities, breathing problems and a host of other maladies.  In order to prevent postural problems be sure to sit up straight, keep your shoulders pressed down and back and have your knees bent 90° with your feet flat on the floor.  Your head/neck should be in neutral position (i.e., not bent up or down).  Maintaining good posture while seated will keep your upper-body supported by your spine and not just the ligaments and muscles of your back.  For more details and other ergonomic advice schedule an appointment with Dr. Hartwig: 503-235-7130
