Contrary to the belief of many and depending on the severity of the injury, allowing and encouraging movement of the ankle following an ankle sprain will significantly increase the healing rate. This can be accomplished by range-of-motion exercises, walking and joint mobilization/adjustments. As always, be sure to be evaluated by a professional healthcare provider prior to self-diagnosing or treating (“Dr. Google” has a tendency to be wrong!).
